Sustainabiliy at NORRSKEN LODGE

Food

We cook with fresh products and local ingredients. Whenever possible, we obtain the products directly from the seeds. We prefer reindeer, moose, and fish from the region. In doing so, we take the CO2 fingerprint into account and reduce the transport routes. In addition, the reindeer, moose, and fish are not artificially fed, sprayed, or fed with genetically modified feed. You can't get more organic, straight from the forest to the table.

We source the potatoes, vegetables, lettuce such as cucumbers and tomatoes from a local farmer who has year-round and seasonal offers. Our cuisine is based on the season of vegetables and salads. We do not use vegetables from China, Spain or other countries with long logistical routes.

Whenever possible, we produce pasta, spaetzle, jam, salad dressings, herb butter, and other homemade products.

Power

We produce the electricity for our campers ourselves. With the planned solar system, electricity can be produced for up to 60 campers per day. The overproduction is passed on to the power grid and can be used again later.

With this sustainable measure, we ensure that the production of energy is secured in the long term and sustainably. Our guests will be pleased.

The project is planned until the end of August and should be implemented this year. Further expansion is planned for 2022.

Activities

We carry out as many activities as possible ourselves. These can be booked directly at the NORRSKEN LODGE in our Activity Center.

Our partners for husky camp and reindeer farm, as well as the wilderness tour and Sami Kåsa can be reached within 10 minutes.

In addition, electric vehicles are in use on the field in order to cope with the daily work. If possible, transfers from the airport will be carried out with electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles. No unnecessary journeys, fewer emissions from vehicles. In this way we reduce gasoline and CO2 consumption.

We are currently clarifying whether purchasing electrically powered snowmobiles could be economical in the long term.
